ASEAN launches youth development index phase II

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine attended the online launching ceremony of ASEAN Youth Development Index Phase II yesterday.
ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi said, in his greeting speech, the youths are the new generations having differences and similarities according to the regional location. Currently, all are facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ASEAN YDI Phase I was launched in 2017 while the ASEAN YDI Phase II measured in three major domains for all youths, and the youth development programmes will be also implemented in the future. Then, the Ministers for Youth Affairs in ASEAN countries respectively made remarks on ASEAN Youth Development Index Phase II.
Afterwards, Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine appreciated the efforts in launching the ASEAN YDI Phase II, adding Myanmar participated in programmes for ASEAN YDI Phase I.
The expert team conducted the systematic survey of the opinions of university students on ASEAN for ASEAN YDI Phase II.
The report will benefit the youth development in ASEAN countries. The ASEAN YDI Phase I looked at four domains of education, health and wellbeing, employment, participation and engagement while the ASEAN YDI Phase II studied awareness, values and identity.
A total of 1,582 students from 10 universities from ASEAN countries, 627 students from 4 universities in ASEAN regions and 151 Myanmar experts and students participated in data collection programmes of ASEAN YDI Phase II. — MNA
