LOCAL NEWS

The fourth day of the 2022 season of Myanmar National League Week 4 continued on 20 July and Ayeyawady United beat Yangon United 3-0 at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon. The Ayeyawady team, which has been showing regular performance, defeated the famous Yangon team with a hat-trick by striker Kaung Myat Thu. Team Yangon, which had won three consecutive games without conceding a goal, faced the first defeat against the Ayeyawady unexpectedly. Ayeyawady United started with good players and made some changes to the starting line-up.
The Yangon team continued to compete with key players including David Htan, Htet Phyo Wai, Zaw Win Thein and Thiha Htet Aung.
Ayeyawady launched the attack from the start of the game, and in the fourth minute, Kaung Myat Thu scored the opening goal.
After the deadlock was broken, Ayeyawady was able to control the game, and Kaung Myat Thu scored two more goals in the 18th and 27th minutes to complete his hat trick.
The Yangon team tried to score an equalizing goal, but their attacking style was not as effective as in the previous matches and they were unable to use the opportunities they had, so they were far away from the equalizing goal.
In the second half, the Ayeyawady team managed to maintain the winning result and stopped the attack of the Yangon team the best and won without conceding a goal.
After playing four games each, Ayeyawady and Yangon have earned nine points each with three wins and one loss. Myawady FC will play against Rakhine United today at the same venue. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
