Bagan, an archaeological zone with more than 3,000 ancient buildings, has been divided into 11 parts, and its beautifying process is underway.

Bagan Archaeological Zone, which has more than 3,000 ancient buildings, has been divided into 11 sections and is being cleaned and beautified, according to the Department of Archeology and National Museum (Bagan Division).
Bagan has more than 3,000 ancient buildings, and due to the large area, the department has continuously carried out cleaning with security guards. Because of the rapid regrowth of weeds, it is difficult to clean and beautify the Bagan area. So, cleaning and beautification is carried out by dividing it into 11 sections.
In such doing, the weeds that are clinging to the upper steps of the pagodas are removed. If there are any Buddha statues, they are cleaned and polished to make them shiny, and the department has formed work supervision teams to oversee the cleanliness and beauty of the premises of the pagodas and Buddha statues.
In addition to this, the department also informed that ancient building numbers: 2,189, 2,176, 406, 394, 2,158, 1,459, 1,339, 1,492, 748, 560, 676 and 680 which were affected by the Mocha storm that hit last May, are repaired and maintained following UNESCO guidelines.
In the same way, water channels are constructed to improve the flow of water in the areas where the flood occurrs, the original water sources are re-identified and box culvert works are also done. — ASH/KZL
