Black gram price fluctuates around K3M/tonne in domestic market

The black gram market saw moderate fluctuation of around K3 million per tonne in the domestic market upon the foreign demand.
The black gram price stood at only K2.836 million per tonne on 1 December. The market has witnessed slight changes around K3 million per tonne starting from 5 December. The price hit K3 million per tonne on 27 December, indicating a sharp rise of K160,000 per tonne within four weeks.
Myanmar mostly exports black gram, green gram, and pigeon peas to foreign markets. Of them, black gram and pigeon peas are primarily shipped to India while green grams are exported to China and European countries.
Myanmar’s various pulses export totalled over US$931 million from 1.1 million tonnes in the past eight and a half months of the current financial year 2023-2024 beginning 1 April.
Myanmar’s pulses exports bagged over US$1.47 billion from over 1.9 million tonnes in the previous FY 2022-2023, the Ministry of Commerce’s statistics indicated. — NN/EM
