Myanmar's traditional Htamane-making festival and competition were held at the Botahtaung Pagoda in the previous year.

Botahtaung Pagoda’s Board of Trustees Member U Kyaw Naing Htun announced that the Myanmar traditional Htamane-making festival and competition will take place from 22 to 24 February at the Botahtaung Pagoda.
The 2024 festival will feature Htamane-making competitions and Htamane alms offerings and donations. Personnel from the seven major sections of the Board of Trustees will participate in the event.
“We plan to host the Htamane festival and the Htamane-making contest, a traditional cultural event, at the Botahtaung Pagoda. Two hundred and sixteen pans of Htamane will be made over three days, with donations going to pilgrims on the full moon day. The Board of Trustees opened a donation centre for the Htamane festival. Individuals who donate the cost for one pan will receive half a pan of Htamane in return. If individuals donate the cost for two pans, they will receive one pan of Htamane,” explained U Kyaw Naing Htun.
The Htamane alms offering at Botahtaung Pagoda will occur at 5:30 am on 24 February (the full moon day of Tabodwe), followed by Htamane donations to pilgrims starting at 6:30 am at the Pagoda platform. – ASH/MKKS
