Cash assistance provided to senior citizens, those with disabilities in Yangon Region

The committee for the rights of the persons with disabilities cooperates with relevant organizations, UN agencies, NGOs and INGOs, and the organizations for the disabilities in making efforts for emergence of a system to classify grades of disabilities and register those with disabilities, said Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine at the ceremony to provide assistance for charity organizations, those with disabilities, senior citizens and storm victims on 8 May.
At the ceremony held at the office of Yangon Region Administration Council, the Union Minister continued to say that the committee for the rights of the persons with disabilities was formed with officials from relevant ministries and representatives from the organizations for those with disabilities to be able to enjoy the services provided for the public.
The Union Minister and officials presented K794.199 million for charity organizations from Yangon Region, K951.27 million as social pension to 31,709 senior citizens, K2.61 million for 78 disabled persons from the region, K22.4615 million as cash assistance for storm victims of Yangon Region to the chairman of Yangon Region Administration Council and officials.
The Union Minister and party viewed construction of Drug Rehabilitation Centre in the compound of Yangon Rehabilitation Camp at the corner of Kaba Aye Pagoda Road and Parami Road in Mayangon Township.
In the afternoon, she viewed round progress of conducting vocational courses at Hngetawsan youth training school under the Social Welfare Department in Kawhmu Township of Yangon Region.
At Mingalar Youth Development Parahita Home in Twantay, the Union Minister donated alms to the abbot and provided K56.073 million as cash assistance for the home for 2020-2021 financial year to officials.—MNA
