Conjoined male twins were successfully delivered at Mandalay Central Women’s Hospital on 20 March, according to the Public Health Department of Yamethin Township.
The twins were the first pregnancy of a woman aged 23 who lives in the Wartoe (West) Ward of Yamethin Township. The woman received prenatal care at the Maternal and Child Health Centre and from an obstetrician and gynaecologist at the district public hospital.
As the baby’s position was not normal, the obstetrician from the Yamethin District Public Hospital transferred the pregnant woman to the Mandalay Central Women’s Hospital.
Both the mother and children are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Mandalay Central Women’s Hospital and in good health. Specialists from the Mandalay Central Women’s Hospital and the 550-bed Children’s Hospital are closely providing necessary health care. — TWA/CT
