A Yangon circular train is seen near a suburban station.

The circular train is running on the Yangon-Insein route, part of the Yangon circular trip, thirty plies a day, according to the Myanma Railways (MR).
Myanma Railways used to run 215 times a day with nine RBE train coaches and 14 large coaches for 38 stations around Yangon and 17 suburban stations. The daily number of passengers using the circular train was about 85,000 on average.
The circular train fare was K200 but at present, it is not running round the town. It is running on the Yangon-Insein part of the circular trip and the fare is K100. Therefore, more and more people are using the train for the trip between Yangon and Insein.
Upgrading works of Yangon’s circular railway section such as the construction of 36 new stations, upgrading the Yangon Railway Station and Kyimyindine Railway Station, building 29 new overpasses, repairing 30 old overpasses, constructing 22 overpass roads and 35,990 feet of fence, are being carried out with JICA’s 2-step loan. — TWA/CT
