High consumption is a primary factor for the import of fuel and edible oil in the country on a yearly basis. Hence, the people need to efficiently use the two kinds of oils in order to make local edible oil and fuel sufficient and help develop the State economy. On the other hand, an emphasis must be placed on increased cultivation of edible oil crops at home to generate incomes from exportation.
Actually, everybody faces difficulties to reduce the consumption rate of edible oil and fuel. Each person consumes 2.5 ticals of edible oil per day and the people in the whole country, 600,000 to 700,000 tonnes of edible oil per year. Hence, the country imports 800,000 tonnes to 900,000 tons of edible oil per year. People need to focus on the increased production of edible oils. Local farmers can produce edible oil to meet the local demand to some extent.
Myanmar has fertile soils which are enough for expanded cultivation of edible oil crops lands. Taninthayi Region, potential to become an oil pot for the nation, needs to properly manage the cultivation of oil palm plantations. Technicians should seek ways and means for purifying palm oil for public consumption. Meanwhile, local farmers should strive for operating the cultivation of sesame as usual.
In addition, all farmers need to expand sunflower plantations to produce sufficient edible oil for public consumption. Moreover, soybean is also cultivated on the land. Only when prices of sesame and soybean are grown with the purpose of foreign exportation, can the import volume of expeller cakes to be used in feedstuffs be reduced.
At the same time, it is necessary to prioritize conducting the research works in order to produce quality strains of crops and animals to be distributed to local farmers. Encouragement must be given to doing research on agricultural crops which can contribute towards surging the State economy.
Agricultural and livestock scholars must be deployed for the implementation of research projects as well as the expansion of sown acreage of crops and livestock farms. To operate these farms, it is necessary to turn out qualified graduates from agriculture and livestock institutes for ensuring an adequate number of human resources.

As agriculture and livestock training courses will be conducted in newly-set up districts in all regions and states, technicians and skilled labour produced by the training schools will have the chance to join the workplaces for raising the production rates in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
