A seasonal fruit, langsat, draws many consumers, and sales have been good. In previous months, despite the fruit’s taste being a little sour, the sale was great. Now, it is early monsoon season, and its taste has become sweet, so the sale has become better.
“In our Magway Region, people enjoy eating langsat. Its taste was a bit sour before it rained, so people liked this fruit. Now, its flavour is sweet, so many more people eat it. Now is the fruit season, so the trading has been excellent. I’ve received many orders. Langsat is mainly grown in Toungoo,” said Ma Phyu Sin Aung, langsat seller from Magway Township.
At the fruit market in Taunggyi Township, langsat sales have been good, and both sour and sweet langsat were sold well in the pre-monsoon season.
“Langsat sale is good. Both sour and sweet langsat have been sold well. Generally, I sell langsat in May and June. It is monsoon now, and its taste has become sweet. This is the period that langsat is sold the best in Taunggyi,” said Ma Khin Hnin Soe, a langsat retail seller from Taunggyi Township. — Thit Taw/ZS/ED
