Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi presided over a meeting on 2021 monsoon tree-planting processes yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said that a total of 36.26 million quality seedlings would be planted in the 2021 monsoon. Moreover, the Forest Department will plant 33,134,111 seedlings for environmental greening, while the Dry Zone Greening Department plants 2,682,375 seedlings and Myanma Timber Enterprise plants 446,301seedlings.
The Forest Department will also plant 68,218 plans on both sides of the road, and the Dry Zone Greening Department will grow 266,175 plants.
The Highways Department will provide the appropriate seedlings and techniques depending on the regions.
Then, Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay said there are more deforestations due to climate changes, and so it should choose the proper seedlings depending on the regions. The ministry will ask for help from the Forest Department to grow about 129,000 trees. The needed suggestions will be sought for the survival of trees and long-term green development processes.
The Directors-General and Deputy Directors-General of relevant departments respectively discussed the processes. The attendees to the meeting coordinated the discussion. — MNA
