Court sentences ex-State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to 5-year prison

Ex-State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was prosecuted for accepting cash payments totalling $600,000 and seven visses of gold from the Yangon Region ex-chief minister at her house by misusing her power and authority under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law on 8-7-2021 at the Mandalay Region High Court. The court hearings were conducted at the Mandalay Region special court (Nay Pyi Taw).
The Mandalay Region High Court sentenced Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to five years in prison under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law on 27 April 2022. — MNA
