Defence Services Medical Academy holds 22nd convocation

The Defence Services Medical Academy (DSMA) held the 22nd Convocation yesterday afternoon in Mingaladon Township, Yangon. The ceremony was attended by Acting Commandant Col. Zaw Mann Phyo of the Academy, Acting Rector of the Academy Lt-Col Khun Tun Hlaing and members of the Dean of Faculties.
The Acting Commandant, the Acting Rector and members of the Dean of Faculties entered the Convocation Hall and took their seats at the designated places. Then, the National Anthem was played and the convocation ceremony was opened. Afterwards, the Acting Rector announced the holding of the convocation and pledged to abide by the code of conduct for the graduates.
The Acting Rector presented certificates to 33 medical graduates and six graduates in dentistry and allowed them to wear uniforms corresponding to the degrees and signed the convocation record book.
Afterwards, Acting Commandant delivered the convocation speech and announced the closing of the ceremony.
To date, the DSMA has conferred master degrees in medical science on 2,136 students, PhDs in Basic Medicine and Clinical Practice on 138 students, postgraduate diplomas in medical education on 207 students, and postgraduate diplomas in medicines on 189 students. At present, there are four trainee officers are attending the 26th postgraduate course of medical science, 167 trainee offices in the 27th, 232 trainee officers in the 28th, and 304 trainee officers in the 29th postgraduate course of medical science, totalling 707 postgraduate officers.
The honours and scholastic awards that these cadets received were given accordingly to the examination of not only by the rector, professors and department heads of the DSMA but also by rectors, professors and examiners from various medical universities across the country.
The curriculum of the DSMA has been coordinated with other medical universities, and specialization and honours are being conferred keeping in line with the medical curriculum. — MNA
