Despite fuels were lost in 22-wheeled fuel tanker fire happened on old Yangon-Mandalay highway, Myanmar Fire Services Department was able to rescue the driver and his assistant alive in time.
A 22-wheeler bowser carrying fuels and heading to Mandalay from Yangon caught fire after turning over on the road due to burst-open right-side front tyre leading to loss of control, at the front of Bhone Kyaw Thar fuel station at 297/1 miles on old Yangon-Mandalay highway.
With fire engines, water trucks, management trucks totaling 16 vehicles from township fire services department and fire brigades of Meiktila district, Yamethin district and Pawbwe township including Yintaw fire department, and under the close supervision of the officials, firefighters jointly carried out firefighting operations, as soon as they received the accident report.
The fire was put out by using 325 gallons of firefighting foam, two 35kg and ten 3kg fire extinguishers and 25000 gallons of water, according to the report by Pawbwe township fire services department.
