Drugs worth over K1.8 billion seized in Pyigyidagun, Mandalay

Over K1.8 billion worth of drugs were seized in Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
According to the report, a combined team consisting of members of the Anti-Drug Police Force inspected a Nissan 12-wheeler vehicle driven by 55-year-old Tin Win between 61st and 62nd Streets in Pyigyidagon Township at 12:30 pm on 6 March.
Next, Aik San (alias) Win Seng (alias) Ah Shan (33 years old) and Rog Kyaing Yan (alias) Ah Kwaik (32 years old) arrived on a motorcycle and the drug force detained them and searched for the 12-wheeler.
A total of 10,300,000 ecstasy tablets worth over K1.8 billion, 6.6 kilogrammes of heroin and 62.4 kilogrammes of opium extract were confiscated.
According to the investigation, the seized drugs were being transported from Shan State (North) to Mandalay Region, and Aik San and Rog Kyaing Yan were the recipients in Mandalay.
They are being prosecuted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and the perpetrators are still being investigated. —MNA
