Energy is essential for living beings including humans. As eras of human status are changing one after another, they have been gaining higher and higher talents on how to live in the world and how to survive for their lives.
To be able to survive for their lives, they have knowledge of how to utilize the energy in daily processes. In gradually enhancing their capacity, they possess the techniques to utilize the energy including various kinds of electricity which must be renewed from nature.
With regard to consuming energy, electricity can be generated with the use of hydropower, solar power, diesel, coal and natural gas to electrify the people. Among them, hydropower and solar power are the cheapest in cost.
If Myanmar produces electricity based on hydropower and solar power at full capacity, electricity will meet the domestic demand, and its surplus can be exported to earn income for the State.
However, as the country does not have the capacity to fully utilize renewable energy, it sells out natural gas produced from inland and offshore blocks to foreign countries and uses some of them in generating electricity at home. As such, the electricity generated at home cannot totally meet the domestic demand till today, and the people are facing shortages of electricity, especially in the summer because of declining water levels at the relevant water sources such as rivers and creeks used in generating hydropower.
Moreover, factories and industries compulsorily require adequate volumes of natural gas and coal for operations. Due to the insufficient supply of natural gas and coal, some factories and industries halt operations. As such, priority must be given to a sufficient supply of natural gas and coal to industries.
The government adopted the electricity policy that the use of natural gas and coal shall be reduced whereas renewable energy such as hydropower and solar power shall be utilized to generate electricity for implementation of the national electrification plan for the whole nation till 2030.
Myanmar needs to rely on renewable energy which can abundantly be obtained from the natural environment. Myanmar people need to efficiently use energy as well as electricity for their daily life. As such, both acts of the government and the people will be the best for their society.
