Entrance fee for foreigners to be raised at Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone from 1 October

The Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan Branch) plans to increase the entrance fee for foreigners visiting the Bagan ancient cultural zone of Mandalay Region starting from 1 October, said Director U Kyaw Myo Win of the department.
In this regard, the zone entrance fee to the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone was charged K25,000 per foreigner till the end of September this year, and it will increase to K30,000 per foreigner from 1 October.
“We allowed foreigners to stay in the zone for five days for their visits and charged K25,000 as an entrance fee per foreigner. From 1 October, the entrance fee will increase to K30,000 per foreigner. They will be allowed three days for visits in the zone, and if their stay period exceeds the permission, the further zone entrance fee will be charged,” said the director.
Foreigners can visit and observe four sacred tooth relic pagodas in the zone, significant religious monuments built by kings of Bagan dynasty, architectural works, mural paintings in the temples, arts and crafts, illumination on Buddhological Jataka stories, stone inscriptions, ink inscriptions, iron furnaces, Sulegon, Wuttanahtaw (aka) Pabetaw, Kheminga, Yinmana and Lawkaokshaung pagodas in the zone. — ASH/TTA
