Equity market surpasses K1 bln in trading value for January

The eight listed companies on the Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX) registered a remarkable grand trading value of over K1 billion with 425,102 shares in January 2024, according to the monthly report released by the exchange.
At present, shares of eight listed companies — First Myanmar Investment (FMI), Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holdings (MTSH), Myanmar Citizens Bank (MCB), First Private Bank (FPB), TMH Telecom Public Co Ltd (TMH), the Ever Flow River Group Public Co Ltd (EFR), Amata Holding Public Co Ltd (AMATA) and Myanmar Agro Exchange Public Co Ltd (MAEX) are traded in the security market.
The total trading volumes were registered at 13,397 shares of FMI worth K116.8 million, 179,517 shares of MTSH worth K514 million, 549 shares of MCB worth K4.246 million, 145,179 shares of FPB worth over K222.5 million, 1,738 shares of TMH worth K4.338 million, 8,823 shares of EFR worth over K17.07 million, 588 shares of AMATA worth K2.76 million and 75,311 shares of MAEX worth K126.37 million last month.
The closing share prices per unit were K8,700 for FMI, K2,900 for MTSH, K8,000 for MCB, K1,550 for FPB, K2,450 for TMH, K1,950 for EFR and K4,700 for AMATA and K1,750 for MAEX in January. The YSX will offer a one-month online introductory stock investment training course from 10 February to 9 March 2024, with fees of K30,000. The capacity of the trainees is set for 150 persons. The security market closed out 2023 with an unexpected high of K9.833 billion from 3.575 million shares of the eight listed companies, according to the annual report released by the exchange.
Next, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Myanmar (SECM) has allowed foreigners to invest in the local equity market since 20 March 2020.
