Eugenia plantation and Eugenia stems are sold in the market.

The long-lasting Eugenia stem (Thabyay) sale has soared in this hot summer, according to Eugenia growers.

“We distribute Eugenia stems across the country including Yangon and Mandalay, but excluding areas such as Rakhine which can’t be reached directly from Nay Pyi Taw. In Anyar (central Myanmar) such as Pakokku, Kyaukpadaung, NyaungU, Chauk and Magway, the Eugenia has been sold well. It is the best seller in Pyay and Shwetaung,” Ma Yati Moe Oo, Eugenia grower from Chaung Sauk village, Pobbathiri township in Nay Pyi Taw told the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).

Despite a slight increase in price, there is no sharp difference.

“Eugenia stem sale has been pretty fine in summer. It has been better in summer than February and March. Recently price has gone up slightly but not much differed,” she said.

Depending on size and variety, Eugenia stem prices range from minimum K100 to K3000 to maximum per one, according to Nay Pyi Taw Eugenia growers. It is expected that Eugenia stem trade will continue better without a decline in demand.

Among a lot of flowers which are used for offering to Buddha, Eugenia stem is more durable than others, that is why it is one of the best-selling flowers in Myanmar. Eugenia stem can last 3 months by changing water and even low-grade variety can last at least 2 weeks.
