Fake News Alert: 500 servicemen from Meiktila air base march to northern Shan State debunked

False news that 500 troops from Meiktila air base in Mandalay Region have planned to march to northern Shan State has been spread on social media pages by Mekong Media, according to the State Administration Council’s statement on 1 December.
The statement further said such false information intends to dishearten Tatmadaw members protecting the country and people’s lives and property, disgrace Tatmadaw, and mislead the public.
Moreover, these malicious media outlets, which intend to disturb the country and incite terror acts, have also attempted to mislead civil service personnel who are carrying out the duties of the government and the people who want to live peacefully, affirmed the statement.—Thit Taw/ZS
