The residents in each township of Mandalay Region celebrate Fullmoon of Thadingyut (Abhidhamma Day), offering flowers, water and candlelights to the Buddha and sharing many good deeds.
The devotees presented flowers, water, candlelights and gold robes to Mahamuni Pagoda in the early morning of fullmoon day, accordingly to the health guidelines issued by the Pagoda Trustees Board.
Furthermore, pilgrims visited Sutaungpyae Pagoda on Mandalay Hill, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, Sandamuni Pagoda, Kuthodaw Pagoda, Aungtawmu Pagoda and Kyauksein Pagoda (Jade Pagoda), made merits and prayed for wellbeing. They were seen reciting sermons.
Additionally, according to Buddhism’s customs, the devotees offered alms and recited sermons, Paritta, Pathana Pali verses and Dhammacakka. They also pay respects to the patients and the elder people and pray for peace, health and prosperity.

The locals also marked the auspicious day with candle lights to Buddha on the terraces of Sutaungpyae Pagoda and Kyauktawgyi Pagoda in the evening. Houses are also decorated with paper lanterns and candles. — Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Sub-Printing House)/GNLM
