The prices of fertilizer have gradually increased in the domestic market.
Between 8 and 13 March, the prices of fertilizer moved in the range between K62,000-152,000 per 50-kg bag depending on the brand (Myanma Awba, Thai Grow How, Pearl, MPE, Thai Myinpyan) and types of fertilizer. Last month, Myanmar imported about 30,000 tonnes of fertilizer worth US$17.912 million, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Myanmar brought in about 17,000 tonnes from China, about 6,500 from the UAE, over 2,000 from Belgium, over 1,500 from Thailand, over 300 from Jordan, over 400 from Uzbekistan, over 300 from the US, over 500 from the Republic of Korea, over 500 from Laos, over 600 from Malaysia and about 700 from Viet Nam.  The export volume was down by over 3,000 tonnes compared to that recorded in February 2023.
Meanwhile, the country imported over 3,500 tonnes of fertilizer worth $1.765 million through a cross-border channel last month, with the majority of them imported by China. — TWA/EM
