Final matches of SAC Chairman’s Trophy Inter-State/Region Invitational Volleyball Tournament (Men/Women) held in Nay Pyi Taw

The Department of Sports and Physical Education under the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Myanmar Volleyball Federation jointly hailed Diamond Jubilee Independence Day and continued to hold final matches of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Trophy Inter-State/Region Invitational Volleyball (Men/Women) Tournament at the Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium B in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning. SAC members — Mahn Nyein Maung, Daw Aye Nu Sein, U Sai Lone Seng, Dr Banyar Aung Moe, and U Shwe Kyein— Union ministers, deputy ministers, officials from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Myanmar Volleyball Federation, officials from divisions and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
In the finals of the volleyball tournament, the Yangon Region women’s team defeated the Sagaing Region women’s team by 3-0, and the Yangon Region men’s team won over the Mandalay Region men’s team by 3-1.
An award ceremony continued after the competitions. Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint for Ethnic Affairs and Union Minister U Min Thein Zan for Sports and Youth Affairs awarded cash awards to the players who won the best athlete awards in men’s and women’s volleyball teams.
The ceremony was closed after cash prizes were awarded in order from the first prize to the fourth prize-winning teams (men/women) by the SAC members and Union ministers.
Afterwards, in commemoration of the 2023 Diamond Jubilee Independence Day, quarter-final matches of the Under 18 women’s invitational football tournament were held. SAC members, Union ministers, deputy ministers and officials watched the match between the Mandalay Region team and the Bago Region team at the Wunna Theikdi training field 1 and the match between the Yangon Region team and the Kachin State team at the training field 3. — MNA/CT
