First-ever free course on bamboo construction to be opened

With the purpose to develop emerging bamboo architects, free training course on bamboo construction called “bamboo-used construction training course” will be launched for the very first time in January 2024. It is jointly organized by Vocational Skills Development Program (VSDP) and the Housing Now and the location of the training school is Bago.

“When the use of bamboo increases in the country, we can reduce imported raw materials and that will benefit the country. And there will be job creation for trainees as well as their families‘ living conditions can be better,” said a spokesperson of the training school.

The training course will accept 20 trainees and the duration is one year. Not only it is free but it will also provide accommodation, meal and wage for trainees.

“This is the first time for our organization. The duration of this first batch will be a year,” he said.

Despite being expensive, bamboo products have gained popularity in the market and the use of bamboo has developed.

“I wish to advise to join this course because it is vocational education that can be learned. We will also teach heartily aiming to produce more experts,” he said.

For the first batch course, trainees must be between 17 and 35years old, have a secondary school education, a passion forhandicraft and a desire to make a living from bamboo-used construction. Thit Taw/ZS
