Golden lotus robe weaving contests take place at eminent pagodas in Yangon

On the eve of the full-moon day of Tazaungmone, famous pagodas in the Yangon Region, such as Botahtaung Kyaikdeatt Pagoda, Thirimingala Kaba Aye Pagoda, and Kyaikkasan Pagoda, opened festivals of golden lotus robe weaving contests.
Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein opened the auspicious ceremony of Tazaungdine Lighting and the 23rd golden lotus robe weaving contest of Thirimingala Kaba Aye Pagoda yesterday evening.
The Chief Minister of Yangon Region offered donated cash for the weaving looms and observed the contest. There were seven looms at the contest at Thirimingala Kaba Aye Pagoda. The first prize will be awarded K700,000 while K600,000 for the second prize, K500,000 for the third prize, and K400,000 for a consolation prize. Trophies and honour certificates will also be awarded.
The 39th golden lotus robe weaving contest took place at Botahtaung Kyaikdeatt Pagoda yesterday evening.
The Chief Minister donated cash for the looms. There are 24 looms at the contest at Botahtaung Kyaikdeatt Pagoda. The first prize will be awarded K1.5 million while K1 million for the second prize, K800,000 for the third prize, and K400,000 for each consolation prize.
Likewise, the 42nd golden lotus robe weaving contest and Tazaungdine Lighting Festival was held at Kyaikkasan Pagoda yesterday evening.
The golden lotus robes woven at the contests will be offered to the pagodas and Buddha images at dawn on the full-moon day of Tazaungmone. — Ko Ko Zaw-MNA/TMT
