Golden umbrella, pennant-shaped vane, bejewelled diamond orb hoisted atop ancient Naypan Lapan Pagoda with consecration in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw

A ceremony to hoist a golden umbrella, a pennant-shaped vane and a bejewelled diamond orb atop ancient Naypan Lapan Pagoda with a consecration took place in Seinsapin Village of Zeyathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory yesterday morning, attended by members of the Sangha led by Presiding Patron of Pali Tekkatho Mingalazeyon Monastery Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Vimala Buddhi.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing offered an alms bowl, fruits, flowers, water and oil lights to the Buddha image in the Maha Mingala pavilion in the precinct of the pagoda and kept religious objects in the bejewelled pennant-shaped vane.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla offered a golden umbrella, a pennant-shaped vane and a bejewelled diamond orb to the Pali Sayadaw. SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and council members also donated alms to members of the Sangha.
The Senior General and party fixed the tiers of the golden umbrella, pennant-shaped vane and bejewelled diamond orb atop the pagoda and sprinkled scented water on them. Members of the Sangha consecrated the pagoda.
According to the estimation of experts from the Department of Archaeology and the National Museum of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, four ancient Naypan Lapan pagodas were built more than 300 years ago in the Nyaungyan era. In 2005, the father and uncle of the current abbot Bhaddanta Aloka of Thukha Yadana Monastery founded the pagoda. These four ancient pagodas were renovated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and well-wishers led by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla with the aim of ensuring the perpetuity of Buddhism, propagation of Sasana and preserving ancient cultural heritage. — MNA/TTA
