Hanthawady holds onto victory, Dagon Star’s winning streak ends

Hanthawady United retained the triumph after the Group C match of the Myanmar National League Cup 2024, while Dagon Star stopped their winning streak in the national league held on 27 April.
Hanthawady secured their big win over Silver Star FC 6-0 at the Thuwunna Stadium. Hanthawady ended their two-game losing streak and regained a win, while top-ranked Dagon Star also lost a win, reviving their hopes of advancing to the next round.
Silver Star FC was unable to compete with Myanmar National League’s top club, Hanthawady and lost both rounds.
Hanthawady FC came out with a full complement of strong players to find their way back to victory, while Silver Star FC also used multiple men. Hanthawady FC won by half a dozen goals but managed to score five goals after 70 minutes.
Aung Moe Htwe opened the scoring in 13 minutes but struggled to score again after that and scored another goal in 70 minutes. Than Toe Aung scored more winning goals for Hanthawady FC in 70 minutes, Kaung Htet Aung in 72 minutes, Aung Moe Htwe in 84 minutes, Zwe Marn Thar in 86 minutes and Nay Moe Naing in 90 +3 minutes.
In the match held at The University Sports Complex, the Dagon Star United team and the Dagon Port team drew one goal each. Having won all four games in the first round, Dagon Star, who led the group, pulled in the opening match of the second round, so they will continue to struggle in the next three games to progress to the next round.
Mogu scored the icebreaker for Dagon Port in 38 minutes, while Zaw Ye Tun scored the equalizer for Dagon Star in 73 minutes.
In Group C, Dagon Star has collected 13 points in five matches, while Hanthawady garnered nine points in five games. Meanwhile, Ayeyawady United secured nine points in four matches, and Dagon Port earned five points in four games. The Silver Star FC had no points in five matches. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
