Currently, nobody turns a blind eye to the important role of nurses in the healthcare service sector of the nation as they can stretch their hands all over the country more than medical doctors in rural health centres.
Up to now, although medical-related universities have turned out hundreds of medical doctors on a yearly basis some of them leave their arena for various reasons. The Remaining graduated medical doctors are not enough for reinforcing the medical field on time. Hence, the government deploys the medical doctors in necessary medical institutions as much as possible to be able to provide health care services to the people in rural and urban areas.
However, nurses turned out by two nursing universities and some 50 nursing, midwifery and related training schools are engaged in the health sector. Most of them are assigned at rural health centres and branches to improve the health conditions of ethnic local people. Despite hardships in their assignments, especially in languages, they successfully carry on their tasks. Hence, they are easily in harmony with the local people.
Those nurses and midwives are focusing on healthcare services in successive eras for the people at the forefront to lessen the suffering of patients. It is because some 50 per cent of health workers are nurses and midwives, which is the most crucial health human resource. Unfortunately, some 90,000 health staff have suffered from an infection of COVID-19 in providing health care services to the patients because they could not be facilitated with adequate protective equipment, according to the International Council of Nurses (ICN). Nonetheless, those nurses do not hesitate over-serving their assignments.
Despite having some limits, Myanmar has been increasing the spending of the health budget year after year. But, the requirement of human resources for health is still high in the country because the massive number of human resources for health cannot be turned out in a short time. As their professions are very important and subtle, they have to deeply study their subjects practically and theoretically.

Whatever it may be, Myanmar will accomplish its vision that emphasis must be placed on the recruitment and appointment of nurses and midwives as well as various levels of health staff in accord with the designated setups at hospitals and health centres across for serving the target to narrow better urban and rural healthcare services for the people.
