Human traffickers jailed for 12 years

The Mandalay District Court sentenced four traffickers to 12 years imprisonment with labour under Section 24 for trying to sell a girl to a Chinese man on 17 August.
The victim Ma …, aged 23, and Ma…, aged 24 from Shwepyitha township of Yangon Region and Ma …, aged 22, from Hlinethaya township of Yangon Region were persuaded to be a wife of a Chinese man for one year by Aung Zin Min (aka) Aung Zin Phyo (aka) Ko Phyo from Hlinethaya township and Yan Myo Aung (aka) Nyein Maung (aka) Aye Maung from Htantabin township. Traffickers told the victims that they would earn K3,000,000 if they married Chinese men.
Traffickers Aung Zin Min (aka) Aung Zin Phyo (aka) Ko Phyo and Yan Myo Aung (aka) Nyein Maung (aka) Aye Maung were prosecuted at the Pyigyidagun Myoma police station under Sections 24/32 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. — MNA
