Illegal consumer goods, foodstuffs, industrial materials, auto parts and vehicles confiscated

The combined team under the management of the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force nabbed a Nissan diesel truck (estimated value of K45 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying 21 sets of MI 55” TV worth K14.7 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) near the Hlegu tollgate on 14 September. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined on-duty teams under the supervision of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections on 17 September and seized a Mitsubishi Fuso bus, a Sun Long bus and a Nissan Diesel truck (approximately worth K93 million), headed to Mandalay from Muse, carrying 22 kinds of goods worth K63.793 million, including 1,100 T-shirts and 855 kilogrammes of Candy sweets without official documents, at the Milepost 24/5 and 25/3 on Muse-Mandalay road. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined team impounded 12 Lifan tripper vehicles (approximately worth K204 million), headed to Kyeinchaung village from Popepi village, carrying 670 bags of dried areca nut without official documents in Maungtaw township on 17 September. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A customs on-duty team at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint captured a Hyundai Starex and a Toyota Hilux car (estimated value of K37 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying 184 kilogrammes of Nylon lace and 810 litres of Prawn Hornet palm oil on 18 September. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
An on-duty team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint impounded two kinds of goods worth K3.75 million including 150 Easy motorcycle batteries without official documents from a vehicle, headed to Yangon from Myawady. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A total of 43 arrests were made on 14,17 and 18 September with an estimated value of K526,990,000, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/ MKKS
