Illegal timbers, crude oil, foodstuffs, consumer goods and vehicle confiscated

The on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department conducted inspections on 19 December.
Officials confiscated K3 million worth of cosmetics without official documents at the Yangon International Airport and 540 litres of duty-free edible oil worth K1.86 million at the bypass road on the Yangon-Myawady Pyidaungsu highway. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a combined team captured K4.32 million worth of foodstuffs without official documents from a Toyota HiAce car (approximately K45 million) at a bus station compound in Kengtung township. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
In addition, a combined team led by Myanmar Police Force seized an unregistered Lifan 125 motorbike worth K200,000 in Taze township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
The MaU combined checkpoint in Monywa township nabbed K20,495,500 worth of foodstuffs and consumer goods without official documents from two vehicles (approximately K19.6 million). The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Afterwards, a combined team captured 90 gallons of illegal crude oil in Minbu township and the action was taken under the Public Property Protection Law.
On 20 December, a total of ownerless 50 cartons of duty-free cigarette worth K75 million was confiscated near 21/2 Milepost on Mandalay-PyinOoLwin road and the action was taken under Customs Procedures.
A total of 38.2068 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K3,066,300 was seized in Ingapu and Yekyi townships and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 17 arrests (estimated value of K172,811,800) were made on 19 and 20 December, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
