Illegal timbers, minerals, foreign currency notes and vehicles seized

A combined team led by the Thandwe District Forest Department under the supervision of the Rakhine State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force captured a total of 2.607 tonnes of illegal timbers (worth K182,490) on 13 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, a total of 4.410 tonnes of illegal teak and 1.356 tonnes of other illegal timbers (worth K1,452,228) were seized in Lewe and Ottarathiri townships on 18 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a combined team led by a police officer from Kanpauk Police Station in Yephyu township impounded 56 bags of lead (worth K50.4 million) without official documents from a house in Kanpauk village. The action was taken under the Myanmar Mines Law.
A combined team led by a police officer from Tiddim Police Station captured a total of 7,198,500 Indian Rupee (approximately equivalent to K184,807,090) without a foreign currency exchange licence from a Honda CR-V car (worth K3 million) in Tiddim township. The action was taken under the Foreign Exchange Management Law.
On 22 June, a combined team confiscated a Toyota Crown (worth K8.5 million) and a Nissan X-Trail (worth K7 million) without official documents heading to Phayagyi from Waw near a Tollgate on Yangon-Mawlamyine Road in Bago township. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Therefore, seven arrests were made on 13, 18, 20 and 22 June, with an estimated value of K255,341,808, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
