Illegal timbers, petroleum, consumer goods, auto parts, unregistered motorboats and vehicles seized

Officials check confiscated illegal timbers.

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illicit trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined inspection team conducted the inspections.
A total of 520 gallons of illegal petroleum worth K882,232 in Minbu township were captured on 11 July and the action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
In addition, two unregistered motorboats worth K5.7 million which were stopped on Ayeyawady bank in Minhla township were captured on 14 July, and the action was taken under the Inland Water Transport Vessels Law.
Similarly, a combined on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department at the container terminal of Myanmar Industrial Port made inspections on 13 July.
Officials confiscated K2,264,400 worth of household appliances that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID), and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Afterwards, a combined departmental inspection team conducted a casual examination on two Chinese licenced trucks at the Myaeni Bus Stop of Muse township under the Shan State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 14 July.
Officials captured K62,468,070 worth of electronics, consumer goods and car parts with paid custom duty from two Chinese licensed Dongfeng trucks (approximately K41 million). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a total of 0.9298 tonne of illegal timbers worth K236,400 was seized in Pathein township, and the action was taken under the Forest Law. An unregistered Honda Fit car worth K3.9 million was seized at Township Entrance Gate Combined Checkpoint of Maubin township, and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
In addition, on 15 July, a total of 13.2976 tonnes of illegal teak, hardwood and other timbers worth K4,785,038 were confiscated in forest reserves of the Bago district. The action was taken under the Forest Law. Therefore, 17 seizures (approximately K121,236,140) were made on 11, 13, 14 and 15 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
