The Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Ministry of Health notified food importers of seeking a mandatory Import Health Certificate (IHC).
The IHC can be applied digitally or manually at the respective border checkpoints or FDA offices in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw.
Those importing companies holding import recommendations can apply for the IHC through a registered account on http://esubmission.fda.gov.mm/, providing the OGA No issued by the Customs Department.
Import recommendation (IR), Certificate of Analysis (CoA), Bill of lading, invoice, packing list, released order, import license from Trade Department, and photo of imported food are required in seeking the IHC.
The online payment receipt for the service fee of K50,000 and laboratory service fee of K200,000 per item must be attached to the application.
In seeking the IHC, the sample has to be sent to the respective FDA offices in Lashio District, Nay Pyi Taw, Muse District, Tachilek, Yangon and the Myawady border.
Customs clearance can be proceeded only with the presence of the IHC. Processing time is seven working days for those imported food with least and medium health risk and 21 days for those with high health risk.
