ISPE FC thrashed YERO FC 3-1 in the Week 7 match of the Myanmar Women’s League played at Thuwunna Training ground in Yangon yesterday.
With both teams fighting for first place in the league standings, yesterday’s match was a thriller, with fast attacks by both teams. As both teams possessed talented defenders, the attacks on both sides were thwarted by effective clearances, resulting in a scoreless tie till the 17-minute-mark.
YREO found an opener when Zin Moe Pyae rushed into the massive defence line of ISPE and scored beautifully. But ISPE could equalize in the 34 minutes with a strong kick from Su Pyae Pyae Kyaw. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie. The ISPE team was much better in the second half after a change in tactics.
ISPE attackers used power plays and accurate passing, while YREO was forced to change to a defensive style of play.
With steady playmaking, ISPE got on the scoreboard with a beautiful goal by star player Zin Moe Htet, who was able to weave through a maze of defenders and score at the 75-minute mark.
Following ISPE’s goal, YREO play turned fast and a little rough. Again the winning or third goal was scored by Nant May Thazin at 85 minutes and the goal made a 3-1 celebration for ISPE at the final whistle.—GNLM
