Kayin language curriculum for fifth grade to finish by 2025

ccording to Mahn Than Win Oo, Chairperson of the Kayin Literature and Culture Association (Yangon Region), the Kayin language curriculum for the fifth grade is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
Currently, the Kayin language is taught up to the third grade in basic education schools in regions and states with a significant Kayin ethnic population. It is anticipated that the teaching of the Kayin language will be extended up to the fifth grade.
The Kayin Literature Curriculum Development Team has already initiated the compilation of the Kayin language text for the fourth grade, with completion expected in the current year (2024).
The texts primarily focus on the West Poe Kayin language and Zakaw Kayin language, and a separate text for the East Poe Kayin language is also under development in Kayin State.
The Kayin ethnics reside in Yangon, Ayeyawady, Bago, and Taninthayi Regions, as well as in Mon and Kayin States. — ASH/TKO
