Legendary singer Daw Yi Yi Khin celebrates her 75th birthday

The 75th birthday of legendary singer Daw Yi Yi Khin was held on the morning of 12 March at M3 Restaurant in Bahan Township, Yangon Region, according to the singer.
Artistes from the fields of music, film and literature attended the birthday celebration and invited vocalists to sing Daw Yi Yi Khin’s famous song to honour the septuagenarian singer.
Artistes such as Academy Swe Zin Htike, Htar, A1 Tin Tin Hla, May Thet Htar Swe, Than Myat Soe, Nang Kyawk Kalyar, and pianist Ngwe Soe also attended the birthday party and joined in slicing the birthday cake to celebrate singer Daw Yi Yi Khin’s 75th birthday.
“I feel pleased because I was honoured with a ceremony to mark my birthday. Dr Nila Thein, an ophthalmologist, is taking care of me while providing medical treatment. I am thrilled. I grew up enjoying music, so I believe that singing in the past will help me live longer. If you hear the sound of music, you might even say that it can contribute to a longer life,” said the country’s famous classical singer, Daw Yi Yi Khin.
Legendary singer Daw Yi Yi Khin has been on the music stage since she was 14 years old, performing songs composed by the music master Bo Khin. She made her debut recording and broadcast with the song “Bawa Letkhana” (Sign of Life), written by U Bo Khin, and was enlisted in the records of the Myanmar Radio Broadcasting Service. Throughout her career, the singer Daw Yi Yi Khin has released more than 100 albums and performed over 100 songs on television.
