Lights offered at Bagan-NyaungU historic pagodas

Starting at 6 pm on the 1st waning day of Thadingyut 1384 ME (10 October 2022), pilgrims from all over the country and locals lit and offered candles at historic pagodas in the Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone, said Secretary U Tin Hla Oo of the Board of Trustees of Bagan Myothit Lawkananda Pagoda. Pilgrims across the country offered candles to the Buddha and monks at 19 historic ancient pagodas in the Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone yesterday.
The stupas and temples in Bagan-NyaungU are open daily from 6 am to 6 pm except for the Shwezigon Pagoda which is open only during the Thadingyut festival (5-12 October) from 5 am to 8 pm under the Covid-19 rules and regulations. — Ko Kyemon/GNLM
