Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn respects a literary doyen, presenting him with a cash prize at the 35th Literary Day commemoration ceremony for the literati.

The 36th Literary Day commemoration ceremony, organized by the Myanmar Writers’ Association, will be held on 24 December at the City Hall in Kyauktada Township.
To ensure the attendance of township writers’ associations, including the literati, they have been instructed to collect invitations from the Myanmar Writers’ Association office in Kyauktada Township starting from 20 December.
Since 1980, the Myanmar Writers’ Association has organized the respect-paying ceremony to honour veteran literary scholars. In 1980, there were approximately ten literary doyens. From 1996 to 2022 (the 35th ceremony), the literati, about 247 in total, have been honoured. — TWA/KZW
