Maung Yay Khe/Ma Shwe Phe poem to highlight ASEAN Tourism sector

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung addressed a virtual workshop named “Maung Yay Khe/Ma Shwe Phe and ASEAN Tourism” at Jade Hall at the Ministry Office yesterday morning.
At the workshop, the Union Minister prescribed Dr Maung Phyu’s poems “Maung Yay Khe and Ma Shwe Phe” in the basic education Myanmar language lessons.
“As these poems contain the basic nature of tourism, this topic was encouraged during the workshop on tourism redevelopment. At present, various countries are trying to reopen tourism,” the Union Minister said.
The ASEAN Tourism Ministers’ Meeting, related meetings and ASEAN Tourism Forum-2022 were held to discuss cooperation issues for the development of tourism in ASEAN member countries in Presihanu State, Cambodia from 17 to 20 January and was attended by a Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister.
During his meeting with the Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, he discussed the possibility of launching airlines to promote tourism between the two countries. They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the government and the private sector and other related issues.
Then, President of Myanmar Tourism Federation U Yan Win clarified on the private sector participation in ASEAN Tourism Forum-2022. He clarified the emergence of global tourism and the need for public-private partnerships to promote Myanmar to ASEAN and the world.
Director of the International and Regional Cooperation Division Daw Khaing Mie Mie Tun spoke on ASEAN Tourism Cooperation and issues related to the implementation of ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plans were also discussed.
Then, the discussions were divided into four groups. The group discussions were held on four topics: ASEAN Tourism Quality Improvement, ASEAN Tourism Cooperation, ASEAN Tourism Policy Guidelines and ASEAN Tourism Reopening.
Representatives from four groups presented a panel discussion on the relevant topics and answered questions from the participants.
Afterwards, the chairman of the workshop explained the results of the workshop, and the Union Minister made concluding remarks and awarded certificates to the participants and group representatives. —MNA
