Ministry of Construction hosts 6th Meeting of Greater Mekong Subregion Urban Development Working Group

The Sixth Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Urban Development Working Group underway yesterday.

The Ministry of Construction hosted the 6th Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Urban Development Working Group (UDWG) virtually in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of member countries: Cambodia, the People’s Republic of China, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam.
MoC Permanent Secretary U Wunna Zaw, Mandalay City Development Committee member 1 U Myint Oo, Director-General of Department of Urban and Housing Development U Aung Kyaw Soe, officials of GMS National Secretariat (Foreign Economic Relations Department of Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations), Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee and Yangon City Development Committee joined the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Director-General U Aung Kyaw Soe of the Department of Urban and Housing Development.
Mr Alan Baird from the Secretariat of GMS explained the matters discussed at the 5th GMS Urban Development Working Group meeting.
During the first session of the meeting, Mr Antonio Ressano from the Secretariat of GMS briefed the measures for urban development while Mr Antonio Ressano and Mr Srivastava from the Secretariat of GMS discussed GMS Urban Development Strategic Framework (2015-2022) and Regional Investment Framework (2024-2026) in the second session and the representatives of member countries took part in the discussion.
Then, Director-General U Aung Kyaw Soe gave a concluding remark.
The 7th GMS UDWG meeting will be held in Thailand. — MNA/KTZH
