Misinformation: Some houses damaged by Tatmadaw’s heavy weapon shelling

Social media platforms are currently spreading false information alleging that civilian residences in Nyaungpinkwin Village, located in Taninthayi Township, Taninthayi Region, were damaged by Tatmadaw’s heavy weapons on New Year’s Eve.
Contrary to these claims, investigations and statements from a Taninthayi Region official revealed that PDF terrorists targeted the Tatmadaw regional battalion near Nyaungpinkwin Village with handmade mortar. Unfortunately, the launcher shell landed and exploded within the village.
This misinformation is intentionally disseminated by PDF terrorists on social media to obscure their acts of terrorism and create a false narrative, misleading the local population about the Tatmadaw’s actions and security measures. — MNA/ TMT
