MNHRC joins 2nd SEANF meeting, side event

The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia hosted the 2nd Working Group Meeting of Southeast Asia National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF) on 25 and 26 August and the Dialogue Between the Asia Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA)/ Asian NGO Network on NHRIs (ANNI) and the Southeast Asia NHRIs Forum (SEANF) on 24 August via a virtual online platform.
Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Chairman U Hla Myint and Vice-Chairperson Dr Nanda Hmun joined the meeting together with the other delegations of FORUM member countries.
During the working committee meeting, the officials discussed and shared the signs of progress and challenges of human rights organizations after the 1st meeting of FORUM held in April 2021, the establishment of website and creation of a logo for FORUM, the host country for 2022, the draft of 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, suggestions for economic rights of COVID-hit communities in the post-COVID-19 period, the collaboration of FORUM and AICHR, establishment of Permanent Secretariat of FORUM, rights for elderly persons and rights issues, including the convening of the 18th Annual Meeting of the FORUM.
Then, MNHRC Chairman discussed the activities and challenges for human rights while commission member Dr Tin Maung Maung Than presented promising economic status in the post-COVID-19 and other matters.
The delegations of human right commissions of Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Timor-Leste, Chairman, Vice-Chairperson and members of MNHRC also joined the Dialogue Between the Asia Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA)/ Asian NGO Network on NHRIs (ANNI) and the Southeast Asia NHRIs Forum (SEANF) held on 24 August. They discussed human rights-related matters jointly conducted by SEANF and FORUM-ASIA/ANNI. — MNA
