MoALI discusses with UMFCCI-affiliated Orgs for export growth, public-private partnership in each sector

Discussions between the MoALI Union Minister and the UMFCCI-affiliated organizations in progress.

Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation met officials of the associations affiliated with the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) on 17 May at Yuzana guesthouse on Natmauk Street, Bahan Township, Yangon, regarding public-private partnership in each sector for an increase in agricultural production and export growth.
First and foremost, the team led by the Union Minister discussed matters concerning competitive market conditions, the use of post-harvest technology and machines to meet export quality criteria, contract farming system, infrastructure development and loan access for the long term and a short term in the warehousing operations, with officials with the Myanmar Corn Industrial Association.
Next, the Union Minister and the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association highlighted the matters related to edible oil market prospects and development of oil milling businesses, partnering with farmers to produce sunflower and peanut seeds, full operation of edible oil mills, investment to upgrade the oil machine and food safety measures in production.
Then, the Union Minister received officials from Myanmar Rice Federation in the afternoon and talk about domestic consumption and rice export condition, foreign exchange rates and market prospects, increase in farmers’ benefit on account of the current paddy price, high fertilizer demand for the coming monsoon paddy season and meeting requirements of agri-inputs.
After that, the Union minister and officials of the Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association focused on quick processing for import licence of agricultural inputs (fertilizers), quality aspects and prevention of counterfeit fertilizers.
Later, the Union minister and officials concerned arrived at the Agricultural Museum in Kandawgyi Park. The Union minister instructed officials to fulfil the need to disseminate the agricultural knowledge based on different displays and aims between museums and exhibitions, conserve artistic artefacts and provide an accessible place for the people for education and relaxation, together with the experts.
