MoALI launches new Department of Livestock and Aquaculture Research

The opening ceremony of the Department of Livestock and Aquaculture Research was organized in Nay Pyi Taw on 1 April.
The new department was launched according to the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister’s instruction at a meeting to develop Nay Pyi Taw on 17 August 2021.
First, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo and officials cut the ribbon and pressed the button to inaugurate the building and signboard.
In his opening speech, the Union Minister said the government makes efforts to develop the farm, livestock and fish sectors using modern techniques and gain proportionate development in all sectors. The new department was launched for the livestock sector to carry out these operations practically and was also a new chapter for this sector. The SAC also encouraged the development of the farm, livestock, and fish, and research plays a vital role in these sectors.
The Union Minister also highlighted the need to transfer the applied research to those who really need it, study the advantages and disadvantages of international research, and develop the technical analysis and applied research for the countries.
The new Department of Livestock and Aquaculture Research was opened in the Department of Agriculture Research compound, and a total of 14 research centres- seven livestock research centres and seven marine research centres were transferred to the new department.
Then, the Union Minister and party went to Post Harvest Technology Division in Yezin Agricultural University and inspected the packaging processes and value-added products manufacturing procedures.
The Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw boasts of Agricultural University, University of Veterinary Science, University of Forestry and Environmental Science, Agriculture Research Department, Forest Research Department, Post-Harvest Technology Division, Farm Machinery Training Centre, Agriculture and Rural Development Training centres and new Department of Livestock and Aquaculture Research. The ministry also tries hard to launch a new department of mechanized farming research. — MNA
