MoE holds meeting on reopening of basic education schools

The Ministry of Education held the coordination meeting on the basic education sector yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe, the Deputy Ministers, the Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, Deputy Directors-General, state or regional education officers and district education officers and officials.
At the meeting, the Union Minister said the meeting aims to coordinate for the opening of all basic education schools on June 1, and all the teachers who attended the meeting must work together for the educational development of the country.
The enrollment week will be held from May 24 to May 31, and the government is implementing a free education system. The textbooks, one dozen note books, and four pencils each will be provided to all students, including the primary school students and two pens and two pencils each to middle and high school students. Students and teachers will also be provided two reusable masks and one face shield each.
The Union Minister urged the teachers to repeat the explanation about the implementation of the free education system and further necessary process when they arrive in their respective area, adding also to teach the students appropriate cultural and religious lessons that will make them mutually respectful and polite.
He also said to the teachers to work according to financial regulations to avoid financial problems in carrying out management matters and implement the education work with the value of being a good teacher. He added that the security would be fully provided to the teachers in opening schools.
Afterwards, the Deputy Ministers and the Deputy Director-General for the Basic Education Department addressed the meeting. The attended district and state/regional education officers presented the preparation for the basic education sector and the requirements in opening schools, and the Union Minister fulfilled the requirements. — MNA
