MoHT UM attends knowledge-sharing seminar on ASEAN tourism standards in Pathein

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Thet Thet Khine, along with Ayeyawady Region Economic Affairs Minister U Tin Aye and officials, visited the Ngwehsaung Resort Elephant Camp at the 19-mile post along the Pathein-Ngwehsaung highway to observe its operations yesterday.
The Union Minister was in Pathein to attend a knowledge-sharing seminar on ASEAN tourism standards at the Pathein Hotel on 26 February.
During the seminar, she presented the goals of the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (2016-25) and discussed the implementation of ASEAN tourism standards.
She emphasized the necessity for collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable development and provide quality services.
She proudly shared that Myanmar has already implemented ten tourism norms and has received 121 ASEAN tourism standard awards.
Subsequently, Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win outlined the regional government’s initiatives for tourism development and provided an update on visitor statistics.
After the meeting, the Union Minister visited the Yamonnar Oo Hotel in Ngwehsaung and met with stakeholders in the region to discuss destination promotions.
She emphasized the importance of cleanliness and shared future plans. Then, both she and the chief minister addressed questions raised by the attendees. — MNA/NT
