MoHT Union minister attends Virtual PATA Destination Marketing Forum-2021

In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Sarawak and Sarawak Tourism Board, and led by Pacific-Asia Tourism Association (PATA), the Virtual PATA Destination Marketing Forum-2021 was held from 25 to 26 November (PATA) in Kuching, Sarawak Province, Malaysia.
Union minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung, the Director-General of the Ministry and officials in charge attended the video conference.
The second day of the forum was held yesterday at 7:30 am Myanmar Standard Time.
CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board Mr Datu Aloysius Dris, Director of Communications & External Affairs of Pacific-Asia Tourism Board Mr Paul Pruangkarn and Co-founder and Executive Director of “The Rainforest World Music Festival” Mr Robert Basiuk gave talks on “The Rainforest World Music Festival” and PATA Sustainability & Social Responsibility Advisor Mr. Graham Harper discussed “ways to revitalize and sustain tourism”.
After that, the “Tellian, The Soul of MUKAN” Virtual Tour was shown and the “Quizzes and Prizes” competition was held.
At the competition, Daw Zay Nyein Tun of Myanmar from Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory won the second prize.
Next, Minister of Tourism of Maldives, Dr Abdulla Mausoom, officials from Thailand and BBC television discussed priorities for post-COVID-19 tourism recovery.
After the discussion, the second-day programmes were concluded.
Next, the Union minister attended a meeting on hotel and tourism development in Nay Pyi Taw Council held at Mingala Thiri Hotel Conference Hall in Nay Pyi Taw.
Director-General of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Deputy Director-General, department officials Vice-Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Hoteliers Association, officials from PNPT Sports Farm, hoteliers, general managers and managers attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the Union minister said that it is necessary to enhance the image of the Myanmar tourism industry by implementing tourism services as COVID Safe Services.
“Hotels need to cooperate to apply for national certification on the website. It is necessary to pay special attention to safety and security for the safety and security of hotel guests.
It is also necessary to maintain the hotel environment and the land environment clean and beautiful”, the Union minister said.
The Union minister urged hoteliers to renew expired hotel licenses as soon as possible.
Afterwards, the Vice-Chairman and Hotel Managers of Nay Pyi Taw Hoteliers Association discussed the status of Health and Safety Protocol training in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area and the need to facilitate the relaxation of tourist entry to Nay Pyi Taw.
