MoI Union Minister holds meeting to reform Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met the Board of Directors of the Global New Light of Myanmar Daily yesterday afternoon in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung and officials, the chairman, the vice-chairmen and members of the Board of Directors.
At the meeting, the Union minister said the purpose of the meeting is to upgrade the Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper from its current status and distributed it internationally and to spread the truth about the current situation in Myanmar to the international community.
He said the real situation of the country and the development need to reach the international community, urging them to make the newspaper to be a more widely read media and to be a newspaper of international interest. He added the need to be able to publish news with more unique features, Myanmar’s strong political, business, social goals and activities, news that is currently of interest.
He urged the meeting attendees to discuss practical requirements of becoming a newspaper of international interest. Afterwards, officials from the Global New Light of Myanmar discussed the issues that will be addressed jointly for the reform and transformation of the newspaper. The deputy minister, the permanent secretary and those present at the meeting discussed the real news to be informed internationally, improving the layout and quality of news and market expansion.
Upon the discussion, the Union minister added requirements and concluded the meeting. — MNA
