MoI Union Minister, MIFER Union Minister give interviews to foreign media

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Aung Naing Oo yesterday afternoon virtually met reporters from CCTV, People’s Daily, Guanming Daily and Xinhua News Agency of the People’s Republic of China and replied to questions on the endeavours of the government in battling the COVID-19 pandemic, the promotion of border trade between two countries, efforts to resurge the State economy, bilateral cooperation and implementation of projects, and measures on stability, safety and tranquillity.
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said the government and the people successfully overcame the challenges of the COVID-19 third wave. At present, basic education schools are being opened and a plan is underway to reopen universities soon. The country is peaceful, tranquil and safe to some degree due to the cooperation of the people as security measures are being implemented step by step. Neighbouring countries including China are of great importance in making peace and stability and development.
Myanmar is striving for the soonest resumption of the development and infrastructure projects with primary trade partner China. The Union Minister expressed thanks on behalf of the government to the China and Chinese citizens for their contribution of COVID-19 vaccines Myanmar required during the outbreak of the pandemic.
Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo also said China is important in trade and business cooperation with Myanmar including border trade. Currently, Myanmar is making efforts for regaining the normal conditions of businesses including bilateral border trade because the international community faces economic delay based on the COVID-19. Then, the Union ministers cordially replied to the questions.
A ceremony to sign the agreement to manufacture 10 million doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 RTF bulk in Myanmar in cooperation with China, took place at Lotte Hotel in Mayangon Township yesterday evening.
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn viewed a screening of Anyeint programme of Har Style Anyeint troupe in honour of Independence Day, at the studio-2 of the MRTV (Yangon), cordially greeted artistes and presented cash assistance. He also viewed the covering of the song contest at studio-1. —MNA
